A long –time resident of Stanstead, Qc,, died on November 5, 2010, at the Victoria Hospital in London, Ontario. Born in England on May 21, 1927, she emigrated to Canada in 1955 with her husband Raymond and three sons. After 2 years in Hazenmore, Saskatchewan and 6 years in Winnipeg her family moved east- first to Montreal and then to Stanstead in 1966 where Raymond was appointed headmaster of Stanstead College. After Raymond died in 1971, Monica returned to Montreal and worked at the Montreal General Hospital for 20 years. Retirement brought her back to Stanstead in 1992. There, with her partner Tony Eveleigh (deceased), she enjoyed gardening, socializing, traveling, and entertaining family and friends at her Lac Lyster cottage. She also worked with the IODE serving the community and supporting local charities. Most of all she enjoyed people. She said farewell to many friends last February when, due to illness, she moved to London where she could be closer to her family.
