Bowie, Marian Mary

BOWIE, Marian Mary

1926 - 2022

With family at her side, Marian closed her beautiful blue eyes for the last time in Ottawa on November 30, 2022, at age 96.

She was born to Dominic Sloan and Winifred Shea on January 15, 1926, in Vinton, Quebec. On January 14, 1950, Marian married Keith (Kelly) Bowie (dec'd. 1987) and settled in Ottawa. Together they had six boys; Patrick (Sharron), Daniel (Tanya), Kevin (dec'd. 2019)(Susan), Frederick (Rita), Michael (Anne) and Peter (Ri).

Marian loved family. She cherished every moment spent with her 14 grandchildren and was thrilled at the birth of each of her 9 great-grandchildren. Many nieces, nephews and friends will lovingly remember her for her joy of life, love of family and wonderful sense of humour.
Marian began her career in school administration with the Oblates Mary Immaculate (OMI) at St. Patrick's High School/College. After that, she worked with numerous Catholic schools throughout Ottawa, including St. Peter's, Prince of Peace, St. Augustine and Immaculate Heart of Mary, until her retirement in 1991.
The family would like to thank the staff at Starwood Nursing Home for their compassion and excellent care.
On Saturday, December 17, 2022, we will celebrate Marian's remarkable life at St. Isidore Parish, 1135 March Road, Kanata North. A reception will begin at 10 am, followed by a Mass at 11 am  and a lunch at noon.

Charitable donations in Marian's memory may be made to: "The Family Support Group of Extendicare Starwood", 114 Starwood Road, Ottawa, ON K2G 3N5
