SMITH, Leonard Wesley(1920 – 2016)Passed away February 28th, 2016 at Hillsdale Estates, Oshawa, Ontario at the age of 95. Leonard was born April 1st, 1920 to Warren Smith and Irene Bruno (nee Brown) in Cobalt, Ontario. Len married Audrey (Eckensviller) in July, 1940 and they lived and worked in Kirkland Lake until they moved to Oshawa in 2009. Len worked for Haileybury Lumber, Northern Canada Supply and worked 38 plus years at McLellan Bus lines. He was known to everyone as “Smitty” the bus driver. Len loved to travel. Len & Audrey travelled to Alaska, across Canada to Vancouver, East to Nova Scotia and south to Florida. Always by a vehicle of some sort, as he did not like to fly. He was a member of the Kirkland Lake Presbyterian Church and a member of the Masonic Lodge of Kirkland Lake. Len is predeceased by his wife of 75 years Audrey, brothers Clifford & Bill and sister Isabel and great grandchild Delilah Morris. He is survived by his daughters Maralyn & (Ivan) Luke, Oshawa, Donna & (Rick) Morris of Grande Prairie, Alberta. Grandchildren Kelly (Allan) Hewitt, Rob Luke, Jodi Luke, Oshawa, Ontario. Mark, Tammy, & Amanda Morris of Grande Prairie, Alberta and Bryan (Charlene) Morris of Dawson Creek, British Columbia. Great Grandchildren Spencer Hewitt, Oshawa, Ontario, Isobel & Charlotte Morris of Leeds, Massachusetts, Phoebe & Felix of Dawson Creek, British Columbia. Cremation has taken place and Len & Audrey will be laid to rest in the Kirkland Lake Cemetery at a later date with family members in attendance.
