Pascottini, Leon

PASCOTTINI, Leon

1944 - 2024

There are some who bring a light so great to the world that even after they have gone, the light remains. Leon Pascottini was that light and on October 29, 2024 that light was dimmed as he took his last breath with his wife and daughter, holding his hand. He has left an indelible mark on all who were fortunate enough to know him.

He leaves behind the love of his life and best friend Beve just 3 weeks short of their 53rd anniversary, his cherished daughter Dina-Lee, his much loved son-in-law Steven and his treasured grandchildren Cole and Presley.

Son of the (late) Muffy and (late) Dan Pascottini, brother of (late) Sam, (late) Anita Paros, Dolores Babcock( late) Joseph and Dona Headrick (Raymond). Dearly loved by his sister-in-law Sharon May and Skip Fletcher, Karen and Lisa May. Beloved uncle to many. Special thanks to niece Angela for her constant trips to Gatineau to share her love with him and niece Andrea for flying from Yellowknife to visit him which was extremely important for her 8 yr old daughter Gwen to meet her uncle. He held a special place in his heart for Kristina Pielow Knapp who was like a second daughter to him whom he loved very much.

Leon was our anchor keeping us grounded, so strong and loving.

He had a lifelong intense love of cooking which he inspired in his daughter. He loved to write poems and stories about life and was Editor of his high school yearbook for a couple of years.

We were astounded by his strength, his determination and his sense of humour that stayed with him even on the darkest days of his treatments and illness.

Leon lived life with love, laughter, happiness and without regrets. He loved people and always wanted to hear their story. He was a very devoted Elvis fan travelling to Memphis numerous times . He loved to gamble which took him to Las Vegas a few times along with trips to Europe, California, Chicago, Bahamas and the States. He was an amazing Manager of Norcan and the BDI Industrial Power Transmission Supply for 40 years and along with his (work wife) Lucy Zimbaro they became very close friends and made an excellent team.

After his retirement he moved with his wife to Gatineau Quebec to be near his daughter who he worshipped and was blessed with a beautiful granddaughter where he happily resided until his passing.

Our heartfelt thanks go to his special friends who were a constant in his life. Michael Tomchak, his very best and close childhood friend of 70 years whose weekly calls he treasured greatly.

His other best friend and buddy Bob Cyr who along with his wife Kim, opened his life to new and fun adventures for Leon to explore, Bob will greatly miss “his little buddy”.

An extra special thank you to Dr Ksara who wouldn’t give up until he found the source of his illness thus giving us much more time with him.

A very warm thank you to the angels at Maison Mathieu Froment Savoie for their tender and dignified care especially Christine who loved his blue eyes and dressed him every day in blue and kept him looking the handsome man he was.

Leon was an incredible man and as per his wishes a Celebration of Life will be held Sunday November 24th on his 80th birthday at Le District in Gatineau Quebec. Donations can be made to the Canadian Cancer Society.

In the words of Elvis Presley, “Til we meet again, may God bless you. Adios.”
