1995 - 2022
ln loving memory of our beautiful son Justen Mills.
Justen graduated from Darcy McGee High School where he played on their football team and later returned to be their team medic.
He worked 10 years for the City of Gatineau as a Lifeguard and Swimming lnstructor.
Justen also volunteered his time as a Paramedic for many events within our region such as Saint Jean Baptiste celebrations, Gatineau Hot Air Balloon Festival and Ottawa Comicon just to name a few.
He then attended Heritage College and graduated with Honors in Nursing and worked a few years at the Hull Hospital on the 7th floor and in the E.R. During that time, he also worked events in Quebec such as Osisko, Motocross Championships, Montreal Canadians playoff series and much more.
After attending classes and obtaining his Security Guard licence he worked the summer in Val D'Or, as a Paramedic/Security Guard, transporting inmates from jail to their court appearances.
But Justen still wanted more and so he moved to Sherbrooke, Quebec and attended the University of Sherbrooke to get his Bachelors in Nursing Sciences. He graduated with Honors and was in the Elite 3% top grades for the University and was invited by the Nursing Medical facility to sit on the board and help them re-write the Nursing Program for the following year.
After graduation he stayed in Sherbrooke and worked at the Fleurimont Hospital and Hotel Dieu Hospital and in his spare time he sat on a committee for LGBTQ rights and freedoms to try to ensure that they receive the best and most compassionate medical care, amongst other things.
One of his happier moments that did not pertain to work was being PaPa lce Hog at Winterlude where he received and gave smiles and hugs all day.
Justen just wanted to help as many people as he could, everywhere he went.
While Justen was home here in Gatineau, he took several courses in Montreal to again acquire more medical skills to further himself better to be able to do more for others and in January he was going to be starting a new job, as Emergency Nurse in La Romaine, Quebec in an lnnuit Community, again ensuring he just wanted to help as many people as he could in as many places as he could.
Justen achieved more in his short 27 years than most of us do in a lifetime. His great smile and awesome personality touched so many.
The world has lost a beautiful person and our hearts will forever be broken.
He is survived by his parents Lynn and Joy, his sister Cynthia (Guy) his nephew Seth, his niece Ashley, other extended family members, friends and colleagues.
The funeral service will be held on Wednesday, December 28, 2022 at 6 p.m. at La Coopérative funéraire de l’Outaouais, 95 de la Cité-des-Jeunes Boulevard in Gatineau, Hull sector. Family will receive condolences as of 5:15 p.m. Every one please come.

J'ai eu le plaisir de connaitre Justen en tant que médic lors du 12 hrs de La Tuque en 2015, des heures de plaisir et un gars passionné !!! J'oublierai jamais la ride de cote-à-cote que la gang m'avait demandé de te faire vivre mon Justen, sur le vidéo on t'entends plus crier que le moteur !!! Bon voyage l'ami !!!

Justin and I weren’t that close, I liked to keep to myself, however he always made me feel like I was part of the group and always had a welcoming smile for me. As a nurse we never worked together but when we would cross paths we we tell each other about funny events and experiences that we’ve had. He was a kind soul and an amazing person. The wold isn’t the same without him in it, but his star will shine above us all, guiding us to do good and be kind.

Je vous présente mes condoléances. J'ai connu Justen au bénévolat avec l'Ambulance St-Jean. C'était en 2012 ou 2013 lors du Festival des Montgolfières de Gatineau. Je l'ai cotoyé quelques années jusqu'a mon départ en 2016. J'en garde de merveilleux souvenir en sa compagnie. Toujours souriant et enjoué. C'est le souvenir que je vais garder de lui.

I'm so sorry to hear about this. I still see him as the little kid I'd babysit sometimes. He was so sweet. Enough so, that I felt like he was babysitting me as he kept asking if I wanted something or if I was okay. He was a special person, even though I never saw him as a grown up. My sincerest condolences. May he rest in peace.

Nada and I are so sorry to hear about Justen's passing.
We still see him playing in the backyard with his beautiful laughs and giggles we still hear his voice in our ears over the fence.
We witnessed Justen all the years growing and being a successful young man and knowledgeable and ready to help.
No matter what we say we are still short to express our sadness.

Just about 25 years ago, I met the cutest little toddler sitting in a shopping cart at Super C in Aylmer, and lovingly being called by his mother.
Over the years, I got to witness this little pumpkin grow into a sweet, handsome and accomplished young man. He always took the time to come over and say hello. He touched my heart and my life, and I’ll never forget him.
I think God really needed Justen’s help in heaven, but don’t worry, even though it’s so sad for you right now, there’s the consolation of knowing that we’ll all be together one day : it’s only a matter of time.
So Rest In Peace dear Justen, until we meet again.

He was blessed with perseverance as he battled and fought off cancer in his teens which was extremely difficult for all who knew him. I cannot express enough how devastated & deeply saddened when I found out. I will never forget the first time I met Justen when he joined Beavers. I new immediately that this bubbly, curly red-haired, happy go-lucky young boy had something special about him. His positivity and eagerness was impacting and contagious. If we could emulate Justen's positivity, and his eagerness to help others, the world would be a much better place. My heart goes out to all of you.

Toutes mes condoléances à la famille, je suis de tout coeur avec vous. J'ai été votre voisine ( au 183) jusqu'en 2012. J'ai connu Justin petit enfant enjoué, plein de questions. Puis un adolescent actif, qui prenait le temps de me saluer et de me raconter qu'il travaillait au centre sportif, puis qu'il souhaitait travailler comme paramedic... Encore aujourd'hui je pense à lui quand je vois une ambulance. Il a sûrement fait beaucoup de bien autour de lui, ne serait-ce que par son amour de gens. Je garde pour toujours une place pour lui dans mon coeur.
