1957 - 2024

It is with heavy hearts that we, the O’Brien family, announce the passing of our beloved family member Joyce O’Brien, October 7th 2024 at the General Hospital of Ottawa.

Joyce will be lovingly remembered by her daughter Cecilia Aird, mother Marcelle Joly and stepfather Robert Nadon, her siblings Larry O'Brien, Ruth O’Brien, Danny O’Brien and Peter O’Brien; her wonderful aunt Rachelle Joly Mayo, her nieces and nephew Isabelle Rabouin, Julie O’Brien and Cédrik O’Brien.

Now in the safe and loving hands of her late father, Percy O'Brien. May she rest in peace and paradise.

A service will be held on Saturday, November 9th 2024 at 2 p.m. at the Coopérative funéraire de l’Outaouais, 1369, boul. La Vérendrye Ouest à Gatineau. The family will receive condolences starting at 13:15 p.m.

The O'Brien family

Joyce was a well-known and appreciated Andrew Fleck Children's Services employee; she joined the George St team in 1984. In 2019 we were able to celebrate and acknowledge that Joyce had achieved the impressive milestone of being with AFCS for 35 years, (this year would have been her 40th year) and at that time we tried to imagine all of her contributions to the many, many children and staff at George St that she would have connected with. Her speech that evening was classic Joyce, funny, humble, thankful and generous with compliments – all of the qualities she shared with her team every day.
Rest in peace Joyce, you meant a lot to many!

The Family of Joyce O’Brien

It is with great sadness that I heard of Joyce’s passing. I was lucky enough to work with Joyce at the Andrew Fleck Children’s Services George St program for 15 years.
Joyce was an anchor in that program and dedicated herself fully to supporting the staff, children and families during the many, many years she worked at the Centre.
She was an incredibly hard worker and I always knew that the program was in good hands with Joyce.
Cecilia and family my condolences. Joyce was an amazing woman who will be missed by many.

Famille surtout la maman de Joyce

Comme je suis triste ce matin par cette nouvelle. Joyce a été la meilleure amie pendant l'élémentaire au Christ-Roi.
Chaque matin je me rendais chez elle sur la rue McConnery.
Je garde de très bons souvenirs de cette amie. Nos chemins ce sont séparés pour différentes raisons au secondaire.
Bref mes plus sincères condoléances à vous sa si belle famille et à sa fille. Courage.
