Lyndon, John

LYNDON, John

1942 - 2023

It is with profound sadness that we announce the peaceful but sudden passing of John Lyndon on August 28, 2023, at the age of 81.

John, the only son to the late George Lyndon and the late Annie Ferguson Reid, was a passionate world traveller and fiercely proud Scot. Known as the “Paisley Buddy”, John was a member of Bytown Masonic Lodge 721 and the Ottawa Falcons Soccer Club. When not off travelling the world or teaching in China, he shared life’s simple pleasures with his family and friends, cooking fabulous meals and providing endless laughs with his signature humour and unique “Jack Nicholson” personality.

John enjoyed rum and scotch, cheering and jeering on his beloved Pittsburgh Steelers, and cracking wise with anyone in earshot.

John is survived by his children Emma and James, and grandchildren, Annabella, Alyssa and Gabriel. His family will continue to honor his legacy, celebrating their Scottish heritage and living their lives to the fullest.

As to respect his wishes, a celebration of life will be held for John at a later date between close family and friends.

If you would like to make a contribution in his memory, please send any donations to  All Hands and Hearts  https://www.allhandsandhearts.org

I was very sad to hear of John's passing. We had, unfortunately, lost touch with each over, over the last few years, which i regret. Very, very sad to hear that he has passed away.

Emma Lyndon

Dear Emma, It was heart retching to hear the news of your fathers passing. I had just had lunch with him a few weeks earlier and we were talking and looking forward to returning to The Bytown Lodge meetings in Sept. His name has been mentioned many times in the last few weeks. He will be sadly missed at our Robbie Burns dinner. If there is anything we can do to help with this transition please let us know. We are good at carrying boxes etc... He always took an interest what we were each doing and our conversations were always enjoyable. This is not an easy time for you. Draw strength from his memory, resilience from his hearty laugh and comfort from knowing he is at peace. Sincerely, George Ingraham (guy with sunglasses)
