John Kovach

1927 - 2024

It is with great sadness, the family of John Kovach of Ottawa, announce his passing on Sunday, September 22nd, 2024, at the age of 97 years. John was predeceased by his beloved wife of 48 years, Maureen (nee McCarthy). Loving father of Laurie (Mehdi Sadeghi), Sherry (Alex Neiman), John and Christopher. Cherished grandfather of Reza and Sophia Sadeghi, Johnny, George and Eva Kovach, and Maureen Neiman. Dear uncle of Karin, Mandy and Shawn Flemig, as well as Istvan and Gabor Haller in Hungary. John was predeceased by his sister, Judit Haller and nephew, Miklós Haller.

John left Hungary after the Second World War in 1947. He spent 4 years in Sweden before emigrating to Canada. He established his own commercial insulation company in the early 1960’s. John and Maureen travelled extensively, not only back to Hungary but to other parts of Europe, the Caribbean, Australia and the US, including Hawaii where they stood on the edge of a volcano.

A Funeral Service will be held at the Funeral Cooperative of Ottawa, 419 St. Laurent Blvd., Ottawa on Wednesday October 2nd, 2024 at 2:00 p.m.
