It is with great sadness that we announce the peaceful passing of

John Duncan Marshall

He passed away peacefully at the Wakefield Hospital on August 13, 2017 at the age of 77.

Beloved husband of late Gudula Von Schoenberg, he leaves behind his children: Gregory, Vanessa, Fiona, Alex and Trixa; his ten grandchildren. He also leaves his sister Mary Miller; his brother-in-law and sisters-in-law: George Von Schoenberg, Benedikta Paulig, Angela Koulomzine and Ise Buchanan as well as many nephews, nieces, relatives and friends.

The funeral service will be held on Friday, August 25, 2017 at 2:00 pm at  St. Stephen's Church, 212 Chelsea Drive in Chelsea. The family will receive the condolences as of 1:30pm . Reception will follow at Vorlage Ski Lodge at 5pm

For those who wish to do so, donations to La maison des Collines would be appreciated.

The family wishes to thank all staff at the Wakefield Hospital, the Manoir de Wakefield and Marion Foley for their good care and support.

the family of Duncan Marshall

Duncan was a fine man, and a great colleague at work. We were at the Department of Indian Affairs together for several years in the late 1980s and early 1990s, and Duncan went out of his way to help me understand the complexities and challenges I would face. Everyone loved his sense of humour, his fairness, his insights and his dedication. Most of all, I loved his enthusiasm - for work, for family, for his many pursuits. My husband and I attended a terrific party at the lovely family home, where at last I met the people of whom he spoke most fondly, and often. I am sure he will be missed greatly by all whom he met.

Cest avec beaucoup de regret que jai appris le deces de Mr. Marshall , jai connue Monsieur au Manoir de Wakefield car jai travailler aupres de lui ( preposer au beneficiaire )de nuit, il etait gentil et me parlais francais . il avait toujours un beau sourire quand il me voyait . je garderai un bon souvenir de lui . Je souhaites a sa famille mes plus sinceres sympathies .

Gregory Fiona Alex Trixa Vanessa and the rest of the Marshall family

Although I offered my condolences to all of you at the funeral, I wanted to let you know that, from my experience, the very sad passing of your father, Duncan can linger in your hearts for some time.
I have many memories of him: his great pride in his children, his loving devotion to Gudula- your sparkling and talented Mom-, his delight with all things "aviation", his many stories about " The historic Tiger Moth" as well as his happy memories of Grey Cup games.

His infectious, youthful smile usually highlighted his stories, even when he talked about fairly serious matters. Like many of his ( and my) generation, he avoided complaining and seemed to follow that famous motto : " keep calm and carry on".

May your father rest in the Peace that only God can bestow.
