LAMBERT, Henry

1937 - 2024

It is with profound sadness and heavy hearts, that we have to say good-bye to our beloved Father, Papa, Uncle and Brother, Henry Lambert passed away peacefully, at Blanche River Health on Wednesday, April 24, 2024, at the age of 87.Henry is survived by his children Janice (Henry) Bell, Tina (Raymond) Lafreniere, and Selena (Dwight) Wilson. Stepfather of Tim (Meredith) Gibson and Michael Gibson. He was predeceased by his wife Sharyn (nee Turpel), son Christopher, and parents Philorum and Albertine, brothers Louis, Emile, Morris, Phillip, and sisters Jean and Alice.

Henry moved to Kirkland Lake as a teen and spent most of his life living in Kirkland Lake. He started working at Macassa Gold Mine as a teen but it wasn’t long before he fulfilled his dream of becoming a firefighter at just twenty-three. Henry served his community with pride and integrity for over thirty-two years and being a firefighter was not just what he did, but who he was. His dedication and passion for his career shone long after his retirement, as he often visited his brother and sisters at the fire hall. He was dedicated and passionate about his career and to us he was a real-life hero! He will also be remembered for his many years as a weightlifter and coach, as he volunteered countless hours to coaching weightlifting at the Kirkland Lake Community Complex. He traveled with his team to many competitions and even hosted the Canadian weightlifting Championship here in Kirkland Lake in the eighties. He later moved to Toronto in his retirement years but returned to Kirkland Lake in 2018 to spend his final years surrounded by his loving family.

He will be fondly remembered by 14 grandchildren, Chantal, Mandy (Graham), Crystal (Bill), Kayla, Rochelle (Jessie), Ryan, Eric (Carlos), Jordan, Mitchell, Shawn (Lilly), Abby (Kevin), Madison, Rebecca and Dylan. And his great-grandchildren, Morgan, Brody, Brady, Alex, Danielle, Mason, Emma, Leah, Jax, Harrison, and arriving soon, Easton.

Sadly missed by his brothers, Marcel, Floyd, Richard, Eugene, Ronald (Jenny), Donald, his dear sister Lillian (Howard) Greenwood, and many nieces and nephews.

We were lucky to have Henry and Sharyn as our neighbours since 2000. We will remember the kindness he showed our children. He always said hello as he took his daily walks. He loved sharing his knowledge of fitness and excercise. We will forever cherish the memories we shared over many years. May Henry be at peace with his Beloved Sharyn who passed just weeks before him.

Our thoughts and prayers are with you during this difficult time.
"Love leaves a memory no one can steal"....beautiful words for a warm, kindhearted gentleman. We were neighbours of Henry & Sharyn for the past 20 years. He was always so frinedly and amiable with us and our children.
Our family really felt his absesnce and began missing Henry and his reminiscences of his life experiences when he left in 2018. We are grateful to have known him.
May he rest in peace.

I wish to mention that Brother Henry was a faithful member of the Father Desmond O'Connor Council 2748 Knights of Columbus. The Knights supported Henry's expenses training the young men and travelling with them to many tournaments.
