OLLILA, Harri

1961 - 2022

The family of Harri Sakari Ollila is very saddened to announce his sudden passing on July 11, 2022 at the age of sixty years.

Harri was born in Kirkland Lake in 1961. He put his trust in the Lord Jesus at the age of eighteen and is now with his Saviour, who he longed to see. He was predeceased by his parents Pirkko-Liisa Ollila (née Kopsala) in 1996 and Aito Ollila in 2004. He is dearly missed by the love of his life and wife of thirty-six years, Sharon Minnett Ollila, his sister Eliisa Ollila, and his five children and their spouses: Mylon and Mélina Ollila, Benjamin and Olya Ollila, AnnaLiisa and Stephen Gison, Bethany and Joshua Solomon, Abigail Ollila and Claude Longchap. He will be missed by the grandchildren who gave him so much joy: Sébastien, Oliver, Bianca, and Lev. He will also be lovingly remembered by his Uncle Paavo and Aunt Irja Kopsala, cousins Eric and Mark Kopsalaand their families, parents-in-law Ron and Mary Minnett, the extended Minnett family, beloved relatives in Finland, and many cherished friends.

Harri put decades of hard work into the mining industry and was never afraid of a challenge. He enjoyed spending his free time in nature—snowmobiling, skiing, fishing, and taking pictures. He loved to travel and experience other cultures, but he was happiest of all surrounded by family and friends at Raven Lake. He loved to laugh and to make others laugh (his “Dad jokes” were legendary). Although his life was shorter than some, he had a larger-than-life personality and left a deep impact on the lives of many. Harri was passionate about sharing the Gospel. If he were here, he would invite you to trust Christ and join him in heaven one day.

We are gathering to celebrate Harri’s incredibly special life on Saturday, July 16th at the Kirkland Lake Gospel Hall (521 Government Rd. W) and welcome his family, friends, and colleagues to join us in person or on Zoom.

We were so saddened to learn of Harri’s sudden death - our deepest sympathies on behalf of Judy & I and the entire Raven Lake Cottagers’ Association to you Sharon & your family. The spirit of Raven Lake will shine a little less bright for awhile as we know how much Harri enjoyed it there - his neighbours likewise will notice the loss. Always a strong supporter of the RLCA , I will miss his messages, support and advice.

The Ollila Family,

Dear Sharon and Family,
Please accept my condolences, I am very sorry to learn of your loss. Harri was a fine individual who I enjoyed working with at McEwen Mining. He was always ready to greet with a warm smile, and a comment on what was particularly special that day. His curiousity, which I admired, spanned a wide spectrum of topics.
May God give you the strength and comfort during this time of great sadness.

Harri made a big impact on Sarah and I, in the too-short time that he was a member of our assembly. He was a mentor and confidante. I so much appreciated his wisdom and his care for me. Sarah and I are grieving with you.

Sharon and family,

Please accept our condolences on your loss. We went to high school with Harri and did lots of skiing together at Kanasuta and Raven Mountain. After all these years we still had snowmobiling in common. We will miss our snowmobile chats with him. Sorry for your tremendous loss. God Bless.

Sharon and Family,

I am very sorry to hear of Harri's passing. I met Harri many years ago when he was overseeing the work to fill the mine subsidence at the old Hollinger Golf Course. I then became reacquainted with him several years later through a mutual friend. Please accept my sincerest condolences.

Our hearts go out to each one of you in the loss of such a precious life! It was so good to meet Harri at Josh & Bethany's wedding. May the Lord comfort your hearts, knowing that he is now with his Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ! We cannot imagine the huge, empty void it will leave for each one of you, especially with his passing at such a young age. May the peace of God which passes all understanding keep your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus at this time of pain and loss.
With our love and deep sympathy
