Lafleche, Gordon

LAFLECHE, Gordon

1953 - 2024

It is with broken hearts that the family announces his peaceful passing surrounded by family in Sudbury, on December 29, 2024 at the age of 71 years.

Born and raised in Kirkland Lake, Gord was the son of the late Aldège and the late Rose (née Spano) Lafleche. Cherished brother of Mary Jones (Gary), Allan (Cristina), Ron (Barb), Ray (Lynne), Ryan (predeceased), his twin brother Greg (Marilyne), with whom he shared a bond that could never be broken, Dee, Mike (Bette), Janette (Les Voros) and Danny (Dianne). He will be fondly remembered by many nieces, nephews and lifelong friends, with a special mention to his good friend Neil Retty.

Gord was employed with Siemens, having retired in 2019. He had a passion for travelling, having recently expressed a desire to take a tropical vacation. During the summer months he enjoyed biking, and in the winter, he enjoyed skiing, playing hockey and faithfully cheering on his Toronto Maple Leafs.

The family would like to thank Bayshore RN Amanda for her years of devotion, care and compassion, and also Maison McCulloch Hospice for the wonderful assistance and kindness provided.

As per Gord’s wishes, there will be no visitation or service. In lieu of flowers, donations to the Maison McCulloch Hospice, Sudbury would be appreciated.

You fought a good fight Gord, now is your time to rest.

Cremation services provided by Simple Wishes of the North, Sudbury and Crystal Crematorium.

Condolences on your loss. I trained for the Westinghouse job with Gord for a year at Northern college. He was a wonderful man who always had a big smile and a funny story to share. He will be missed by those who were fortunate enough to have him in their lives. Rest now in peace.

Sad to here of Gords passing, he was a super nice guy with nothing mean to say about anyone, I’m sure I’ll be looking for him riding his bike down the highway this summer, it’ll be sad when I realize that he’s moved on. I hope his family and friends find peace and healing swiftly in this time of loneliness and sadness.

Gord was one of those guys that made you feel positive when you seen him. Both Brian and I enjoyed chatting with him. I would go so far as to hang out the vehicle window and give him a big wave when he was biking; a soft, gentle person who made you smile big when you seen him. We pray for a gentle healing journey for all that feel the loss.

May my support
warm your heart

I am very sorry to hear the sad news concerning Gord ‘s passing!
I taught Gord at KLCVI many years ago and later played Oldtimer’s hockey with him for a number of years. He was always a nice friendly person with a continuous smile. It was my pleasure to have known him! My condolences to his family.
