DUFORD, Gisèle

1949 - 2024

Peacefully, in palliative care, and surrounded by love, Gisèle Duford passed away on July 23, 2024, at the dawn of her 75th birthday, following a long illness. She was the daughter of the late Arthur Duford and the late Blanche Duford (born Parisien).

Gisèle, beloved wife of the late Ron Malis, brightened the lives of all those who crossed her path. An exceptional woman, generosity, wisdom and empathy animated her life.  Her vibrant spirit and kind soul will live on in the hearts of those who knew her.

She is survived by her daughter Manon Thériault (Chris Martin) and her cherished granddaughters, Alexandra and Samantha of Boston and her son Michel Thériault (Guiqin Hao); her brothers and sisters, Hélène (late Raymond Robidas) and their daughters; Madeleine (John Pritchard); Paul (Patsy) and their children; Denis (Margaret) and their children.  Gisèle is predeceased by her brothers Gérard (Gertrude and their children); Guy (Arlene and their children); her nephews, her sister Madeleine's sons, Charles and Benoît and her brother Denis' son, Shawn.

Ron's children, Denise (Shawn Lynch), Vivian (late Garry Painter), the late Blair (Sue), Marilyn (Gord Cunningham), Maureen (Peter Jungen), John (Gabrielle) as well as many grandchildren and great-grandchildren, share our sadness.

Gisèle will forever be in the heart of her great friend of the last fifty years, Arline Marchand.

The family wishes to express its gratitude to all the staff members of La Maison Mathieu-Froment-Savoie for the good care provided and for their boundless dedication. The family also thanks Chantal Dion, respiratory therapist, and Dr. Sahmkow whose accompaniment and physical and moral support comforted Gisèle during her illness.

The family will receive relatives and friends at Gisèle's celebration of life, on August 17, 2024, at 2 p.m., at the Coopérative funéraire de l'Outaouais, 95 de la Cité des Jeunes Boulevard in Gatineau (QC) J8Y 6X3. Je viens de perdre une grande amie, mais je la laisse aller vers le Seigneur car elle souffrait beaucoup. Tu as fini ta souffrance ma chère amie. Je t'aime et tu seras continuellement dans mes pensées et mes prières.

Manon

Dear Manon and Family! My deepest condolences on the loss of your Mom. I will always remember her tender voice and kind advice when we were growing up and I use to think her so wise. May she now rest in peace. Our prayers are with you during this time of sorrow.

Your mom meant the world to us and blessed us with so many wonderful memories to cherish. She was so thoughtful and attentive, and made each one of us feel extra special and loved. She took a genuine interest in our lives and was one of our greatest cheerleaders. I admired her strength and courage as she navigated each stage of her disease which robbed her of so many pleasures and quality of life.
Though we know she has been freed of her pain and suffering, we are left with broken hearts as we grieve her passing.
You are all in our thoughts and prayers.
