MALETTE, Gérald

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Mr. Gérald Malette on January 20, 2022, at the age of 87. He was the husband of Diane Caron and the son of the late Eugène Malette and the late Marguerite Legault. Besides his wife, he leaves behind his children Michel (Marie-Josée Raby) and Célyne (Neil Bassett); his grandchildren Étienne, Camille, Julien (Andrée-Ann Mercier-Blais), Maxime and Tristan; his great-granddaughters Magalie and Clémence; his sister Louise (Michael Hughes); his sister-in-law Adéline Caron; as well as many nieces and nephews and numerous friends. He was predeceased by his sisters Alice (the late Robert Phillips), Claire (Sisters of Charity of Ottawa) and Lucie; as well as by his brothers Raymond (the late Georgette Lefebvre) and Laurent (the late Thérèse Gagnon).

A celebration of life, in the presence of the ashes, will be held on Saturday, May 28, 2022 at 11:00 am at Saint-Luc Church located at 680 Bergeron Street, in Gatineau, Quebec (Buckingham sector). The family will receive condolences at 10:30 am.

Expressions of condolences can be made in the form of a church service or a donation to a charitable organization of your choice in Gerald's memory.

The family would like to thank the staff of the Rose-Aimée care unit (Sélection Retraite Gatineau), as well as all the staff of the Hull Hospital who accompanied Gérald in his last days among us.

Jerry

To Jerry and the Malette's:

Although I never spent enough quality time with Jerry that I wished, Jerry always lighted my eyes when I visited from B.C. when I was young with humor and love.

When I moved to Ottawa and lived with Fran in 2001, I was happy and lucky enough to spend some quality time with Jerry, golfing, and bonding as "guys", but again, never enough time that I wished.

I wish I spent more time with my mom's side of the family, as the "Malette's" are wonderful, loving, caring, and truthful people with Fran, who have character that I always respected and was drawn too more thant my fathers side.

I miss Fran, I miss Claire, I miss Jerry, and I wish I grew up in Ontario and Quebec vs British Columbia being close to my moms side{Louise Hughes).

Thanks for the memories to all of my moms side, I miss them very much and wish i was closer.

Great picture of jerry and he always made me laugh when I was young for his slang with his accent and humor with me over those wonderful holiday memories.
