Brown, Frances Peabody

1925-2024

The family of Frances (Clements) Brown announce her death in hospital August 9, 2024 at age 98, after a short illness.  Her husband Edward Llewellyn (Tom) Brown passed away in 1995.  They lived on a hobby farm near Glen Robertson, Ontario for 18 years, before moving to Carlsbad Springs, and then Frances to Blackburn Hamlet, eventually residing at the Bearbrook Retirement Residence.  Frances and Llewellyn volunteered at Ottawa museums for many years.  Their children are Stephen (Donna), Louise (Don Eaton), and Maurice.  Grandchildren are Kyle Brown (Véronique), Tyler and Todd Duchesneau, and great-grandchildren Savannah and Hailey Brown.  She was pre-deceased by her siblings and granddaughter Kelly.

Frances was forever positive, cheerful, and loving, especially enjoying blue skies, and animals of any kind, but especially horses, which she raised for a time, and dogs.  While she appreciated visits of any kind at Bearbrook, dog visits were always a highlight and would have her smiling ear to ear.

The family wishes to thank all those whose care helped Frances enjoy so many years, particularly Dr. Kathryn McFarland, the staff at Bearbrook, caregiver Sheila Hunt and dog Ollie, neighbour Sheila Ross and dog Tess, and nurse Laura in 6C at the Montfort Hospital.

Arrangements are being determined.

With heavy hearts, we bid farewell to a loving and noble soul - your mother, BROWN, Frances. I deeply felt that she was a devout Christian. Every day, we could see her on the sofa in the hall, with her white little dog cheerfully circling around her. She would sit there quietly, smiling as she looked out the door, as if waiting for beautiful moments in life.

Whenever someone approached her, she always revealed that warm smile. She often spoke to us with gratitude and pride about her son, saying she had three wonderful children, her words filled with the joy and pride of a mother. Her eyes often sparkled with happiness, feeling proud of you and your siblings.

She was a polite and compassionate person. Her love for small animals showed us that her heart's love was not just for her family but for every life around her. Such kindness and wisdom were the most precious gifts she gave to this world.

In our shared memories, her wise eyes always carried a serene and powerful depth. Her humorous and warm words often made us feel a ray of sunshine during cold days. Each of her smiles and every act of kindness conveyed to the world a sense of dignity and benevolence in dealing with others.

Please believe that no matter where she is, her loving and kind soul will always be watching over you. The teachings and wonderful memories she brought to each of us will remain in our hearts forever. We will also remember her warmth and wisdom; this priceless legacy will always guide us forward.

Let us support each other during this difficult time and cherish her grace and love together. May she rest in peace in heaven, and may we continue to emulate her, bringing more love and warmth to the world.

May God bless her soul, and may you and your family find some comfort and strength in this sorrowful time.

Sincerely!

Yue Yuan He

As I noted in a recent e-mail, Aunt Frances, throughout her long life, was very interested in and knowledgeable about what was going on in the world, but particularly in the lives of those close to her. She had the great gift of being cheerful, even in the face of severe adversity. This, coupled with her warmth and caring for others, made her well loved.

I am so sorry to hear of Francis passing but what a good long life she had. She was my mother, Alleyne Coombes 's cousin and I remember we visited her many years ago. I remember her as a very loving and caring person. Her mother,
Aunt Mabel was a favorite of Mum's and also a special ️ person! I'm sorry for your loss.
