Delaney, Elske

DELANEY, Elske

1945 - 2024

With profound sadness, we announce the passing of our beloved wife, mother, and friend, Elske Delaney (née Kruse), on November 1, 2024, at the age of 79. Elske was the cherished wife of Ronald Delaney and is survived by her three children: Neal (Andrea), Karen, and Scott (Samantha). She also leaves behind her grandchildren: Aaron and Nicholas, Aimee and Patrick, Christian, Hayden, Annabelle, and Peyton. Elske is also survived by her sisters, Roswitha Scuris-Brown and Kate Volkmann, and predeceased by her brother, Herbert Kruse.

Born in Bad Oldesloe, Germany, to the late Erika Kruse (née Behnert) and Herbert Kruse, Elske arrived in Canada at the young age of 10 and lived in Montreal before relocating to Ottawa with her family in 1976. Shortly after, Elske embarked on a fulfilling 40-year career at Sears Canada, where she formed lifelong friendships. She found great joy in spending time with her family and grandchildren. With an open heart and a generous spirit, Elske became a mother figure to all who crossed her path, cherishing her loved ones deeply.

Please join us to celebrate her life Tuesday November 12, 2024, at 11am at Divine Infant Parish, 6658 Bilberry Dr, Orleans.

The family would like to send a heartfelt thanks to Elske’s care team at Maison de L’Est and Champlain Health for their compassion and dedication to her care.

In lieu of flowers please consider donating to Hospice Care Ottawa or the Canadian Cancer Society.

We will certainly miss Elska at our monthly Sears luncheons. She had a quiet motherly way about her and always remembered (when I had a brain fart) the date and place where our next luncheon would be. We’ll miss you and think of you often.

My Deepest Condolences to All the Delaney Family. I first met Elske over 40 yrs ago when I first started at Sears. She gave me a Beautiful Baby Shower for my Firstborn, I will never forget her kindness and generous heart.
She will be missed at our Sears Luncheon but never forgotten.

It is with deep sorrow that we feel for your loss of having a loved one gone but who’s now in the bosom of the Lord. Heaven gained an angel. May Elske’s soul rest in peace and may perpetual light shine upon her.
