SCHREINER, Elias

It is with great sorrow that we announce the passing of Elias Schreiner on October 8, 2023 at the CISSSO Pavillon of Hull, at the age of 87.

He leaves to mourn his wife Marguerite Houle; his children Tina-Louise (Mike Csontos), Christine (late Richard Després) and Roxanne; his grandchildren Jérome, Ingrid (Justin Lemay), Sarah and Michael. He also leaves his sister Klara, one brother-in-law and many sisters-in-law, nephews, nieces, relatives and friends.

A Celebration of life will be held at the COOPÉRATIVE FUNÉRAIRE DE L'OUTAOUAIS, 95 de la Cité-des-Jeunes Boulevard in Gatineau (Hull sector), on Saturday, October 28, 2023 at 2 p.m. The family will receive condolences as of 1:15 p.m.

Sorry to hear of the passing of Elias. I was his apprentice plumber with Don Coghlan Plumbing for many years. I called Lou pappy as he treated me like as a son. We mainly worked out of town and had long commutes to our projects. Pappy would listen to CBC radio and when a particular song came on he would yodel to it! He wasn't the greatest at yodeling but I never complained! We worked together at the Rideau Regional Institution in Smiths Falls. Pappy was never himself when we were there. He did not like seeing the young children and the handicapped. During our lunch breaks he could not eat, most of his lunch was given to the children or to me. Pappy and I kept in touch over the year's, he was my mentor. I had the most respect for Lou than any other plumber that I worked for in Local 71.

My wife, Leslie and I will have a mass said at St. Patrick's Basilica to honor his legacy.
