FILION LYNCH, Diane

1946 - 2024

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of

Diane Filion Lynch,

who passed peacefully on September 8, 2024 at the age of 78. She is survived by her husband Ned, her daughter Miriam (Robert), her son Philip and her four grandchildren Gavin, Éloïse, Colin and Vivianne. Pre-deceased by her sisters Lilianne and Jeannette, she is also survived by her sisters Pierrette, Louise, Hélène, Martha and Sylvia and her brother Jean, her sister-in-law Patricia as well as her many nephews, nieces and dear friends.

Born in Arvida on May 21, 1946, daughter of Léopold Filion and Carmelle Darisse. Diane was a student at the École des beaux-arts de Montréal, a bachelor’s degree in visual arts from the University of Ottawa and had a successful career in the federal public service. She lived a superb life filled with her dear husband and family, via California, Montreal, and a beautiful adventure of a few years in Australia.  Diane and Ned then moved to the National Capital Region to start their family. Diane was known for her special attention to her loved ones, her unconditional love for her family, especially her grandchildren who gave her so much joy, and her passion for the arts.

She now watches over us, surrounded by the loved ones she has joined.

Family and friends are invited to a celebration of her life at the Coopérative funéraire de l’Outaouais, located at 95 Boulevard de la Cité-des-Jeunes in Gatineau, on Friday, September 27, 2024 at 2 pm. The family will receive condolences starting at 1:15 pm.

Ned Lynch and the Filion Family

Sharon and I send our deepest condolences. So many happy, wonderful memories of Diane, a beautiful, kind cousin … So many happy memories of being with Diane during many beautiful St Andre summers as we played, laughed and enjoyed life together.

Alexis

Dear Ned, Miriam, Philippe, Sylvia and Family

Our sincere condolences on the loss of your beautiful wife and partner, mother, grandmother, sister and best friend. I just watched the touching celebration and learnt things I had not known before like her artistic side. Thank you for sharing your touching memories. I remember hearing of some of these words from her sister tante Martha such as Arvida, Kamouraska, la famille, mes soeurs, le fleuve... Like it was said, these stories and Diane's memory will remain eternal in our hearts. We can see that she was an amazing person. Love, from the Chan Family, Martha, Souis, Souling and Soukwan xxx

I am so sorry to hear of the loss of you dear Diane. I have been out of touch but have many fond memories of her gentle and kind nature, and her passion for the arts. Diane introduced me to Quebecois music and the chansonniers, which ended up being my main motivation to learn French. Thank you Diane, for your cousinly friendship and inspiration.
