On December 23, 2021, Detlef passed away at the age of 57. His only daughter Elisabeth Brosda (1995-2016), preceded him. Detlef was the son of Roswitha Brosda and the late Günter Brosda. He will also be sadly missed by his ex-spouse Marie-France Maisonneuve (Sébastien Normand), his brother Dirk Brosda (Andrea), his nieces Tatjana and Janina, his best friend Marc Kappinga (Rosalie), and many other relatives and friends.

On Saturday, June 11, 2022, the funeral service will be at 2 pm at St. Maria Goretti Church (Sainte-Trinité), located at 664 Duberger Street in Gatineau, J8P 3Y2. The family will start receiving condolences at 1:30 pm. There will be a light snack after the mass.
