SIRARD, Daniel Gaston
1958 - 2024
May 13th, 1958 - November 2nd, 2024
It is with great sorrow that we announce the passing of Daniel Gaston Sirard on November 2nd, 2024 at the age of 66. He was the son of the late Gaston and Annette Sirard.
He leaves behind his siblings: Jocelyne (Guy), Michel (Elaine), Gaston (Arlene) and Carmen (the late Pierre). He also leaves his nieces and nephews: Scott (Carolyn), Aimée (André), James (Laura), Daniel, Melissa (Will) and Jeffrey (Meagan) and was predeceased by his nephew Matthew.
He received a bachelor’s degree in music from the University of Ottawa. He loved music and was extremely talented – accordian, guitar and trumpet. He played trumpet in the Nepean, Ottawa and Montreal Symphonies. He also loved Miles Davis and Dizzy Gillespie among others.
He joined the Armed Forces and was a soldier in the Changing of Queen's Elizabeth II’s Guards at Parliament Hill for one summer.
He was a high school teacher in Ottawa for almost 30 years; he also participated in Exchange of Teachers and spent one month in the south of France.
Dan never met/saw a woman he didn't think was beautiful. He had a great sense of humour, was an accomplished storyteller and he truly believed he was an avid fisherman.
Cremation has taken place and in keeping with his wishes, a celebration of life will be held at a later date, when we will lay him to rest at Moose Lake, where he had several fond memories.
When we think of our brother, we remember his talent, his ease of conversation and his appreciation of music.
