Colin George Read

1964-2022

Colin passed away peacefully on November 9th, at the age of 58 with family by his side.

Son of the late Ainslie and Edith Read, Colin grew up on the family farm in Dunrobin, Ontario. A graduate of Sir Guy Carleton Highschool and participant in Katimavik, he spent his working years as a cleaner in high tech buildings in Kanata. Active member in the All Saints Westboro and longstanding chorister, he also volunteered at Parkdale Food Centre.

Colin will be missed by siblings: Rhondda MacKay (Robin), Ainslie Read (Joan), Marian Read (Ndoria) and Laura Desclouds (Barry) and his niece and nephews.

Following cremation, a memorial celebration will be held at All Saints Westboro on Monday, November 14, with visitation at 1 pm, a Eucharist at 2 pm and reception to follow. Interment of ashes will be at St. Paul’s, Dunrobin.

Many thanks to Dr Lisa Cross and the Community Palliative Care Team and to the staff and volunteers at the May Court Hospice.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to All Saints Westboro allsaintswestboro.com, Hospice Care Ottawa www.hospicecareottawa.ca or the Parkdale Food Centre parkdalefoodcentre.ca.

Rhondda and family

I sang bass beside Colin for many years at All Saints. He had a fine deep baritone voice, and it was a pleasure to sing with him. I remember his infectious laugh as we shared stories in the back pew.

I was so sorry to hear we have lost Colin.

The Read Family

I was sorry to read of Colin's death. Many memories of Colin from his time living in Dunrobin. Colin and my late father Reverend Edward Attwell spent many years involved with Scouts and worshiping at St. Paul's Anglican Church. Then as an adult I saw Colin almost every workday at Mitel for many years. He was a great worker but he always had time to have a short chat with me. He would have a smile on his face if I asked about family and he was very proud to tell me what everyone was doing.
Condolences to the entire "Read" family.
Sincerely, Mary Attwell
