Kelly, Bonnie

KELLY, Bonnie

1960 - 2024

Bonnie Louise Kelly passed away peacefully with her family by her side at the Blanche River Health Kirkland Lake on February 12 th, 2024 at the age of 63.

A Friend, Lover, Mother, Wife, and Gramma. Bonnie grew up in King Kirkland, then moved to Kirkland Lake, to become a lifelong resident, to marry and raise her family. She spent her childhood enjoying the outdoors camping, life at the cottage, and time with friends and family. After graduation, Bonnie landed a position at the Ministry of Natural resources as the Office Clerk in Kirkland Lake, until her retirement. After a few years of retirement, Bonnie took on part time employment with Northern Treatment Center.

Growing up Bonnie had a love for all sports. Whether she was playing squash where she met her close friend Jane (Stan) and baseball where her girl friends called her “Boomer” she always made it more fun. She later focused her athleticism on power lifting. In her early years of her relationship with Robert she spent a lot of time at the gym working out, which lead to her becoming a Provincial and Canadian Champion and a record holder in Power Lifting. To this day she still holds the record in the deadlift. She also competed at the World level making her a world class athlete. In the summer she loved to be at the cottage where you would either find her kayaking, out-fishing Robert, or sipping on a warm cup of tea while reading a good book. During the winter months Bonnie could be found with Robert at craft fairs, or at the arena, dance recitals, or basketball courts watching her grandchildren doing what they love. Bonnie also loved knitting and quilting as well.

Bonnie was pre deceased by her parents Arthur and Norma Kelly, her in laws Roger and Lucie Charbonneau, her brother- in- law Phil Fox Jr, Nephew Cody Fox, and sister-in law Lori and Diane Charbonneau. Out of all her accomplishments her greatest one was her family. She is survived by her loving husband Robert, her sons Aaron (Kristal), and Eric (Dana). She will be missed terribly by her ten grandchildren; Chloe, Aiden, Drake, Karli, Gabe, Lucas, Elleigh, Charlotte, Lennox, and Andie. Dear sister to Melissa and Kenny and her brother- in- laws Mike (Julie), Albert, Danny (Sharlene), many nieces and nephews, and numerous other relatives. Cottage sisters Jo-Ann, Fernande, Nancy Erin, and Terry-Lee.

The family would like to thank the Doctors, nurses from the fourth floor, the staff from Home and Community Care Support Services, Betty Smallwood(Timiskaming Hospice Palliative Care), Closing The Gap Healthcare(PSWs) and VON, for their kindness and care of Bonnie in her final days with us.

In keeping with Bonnie’s wishes cremation has taken place. A celebration of her life will take place at a later date. In lieu of flowers donations can be made to the Ronald McDonald House in
Ottawa(http://rmhottawa.com/get-involved/make-a-donation/)

Sincere condolences to the Charbonneau and Kelly (Fox) families on the passing of Bonnie.
Bonnie always had a smile on her face and in a good mood anytime we seen her, I will always keep the memories of our early years Powerlifting at the complex and have place in my heart as a wife of a brother firefighter.
I still have my copy of Bonnie’s fund raising poster for her trip to the world powerlifting championships in England hanging on my wall.
Keep all your memories close to your heart.
Gone too soon, you will be missed by everyone.
RIP Bon

We are so very shocked and sorry to learn of Bonnie's passing. Bonnie and I played fast ball together many moons ago. She was an amazing athlete and team player. I was always in awe of her athletic devotion and abilities. In the last several years we would get caught up at craft sales. She was a lovely person with such a quiet demeanor and great smile. She will be greatly missed. Cindy and Jim

In this day and age how often do we meet a person who affects us so profoundly. Bon Bon was that person. Sincere and compassionate, whimsical and mischievous but most importantly forgiving and generous to a fault . Bonnie has been a great friend and cohort for 40 yrs.
This sisterhood is forever changed, we are deeply saddened, inconsolable and just rocked to our core.
Rocky, Aaron, Eric and families so grateful you welcomed the “sisters” presence during Bonnie’s illness and in her final days and hours. We are so deeply sad for you and trust you will continue to lean on each other to help overcome this devastating loss but to always remember the vibrancy of Bonnie.
Missy: this grief is immense. Bonnie’s spirit will live on in you. The bond between the two of you is beyond our mortal world. You were BonBon’s advocate, such selfless dedication .. an advocate anyone would be honoured to have in their corner. Bonnie we are so grateful for you in our lives. We welcome your spirit- you will be with us the rest of our days… ️ sister Jo

We are shocked and saddened by Bonnie's passing. Rocky, Albert, Melissa, Dexter & All of their Families & Loved Ones:

I was shocked to hear of this devastating news. I hadn’t had the pleasure of seeing Bonnie for some time, but remember her with much fondness, & also while following her accomplishments with pride @ Weight Lifting in earlier years.

One can clearly see that her Greatest Accomplishment was loving & caring for you Rocky, her Children & many Grandchildren in addition to the love she had for her Sister, her Parents & her entire Family.

It was nice to see & talk with you Rocky @ the the 2nd last KL Market on one of my rare outings. My heart goes out to you & yours with the Biggest of Hugs!

God Bless & RIP Bonnie!
