1936-2021

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our father, Bernhard Berends at the age of 84 years. Bernhard passed away peacefully on June 9, 2021, at the Elizabeth Bruyère Palliative Care Unit following a battle with cancer. He is survived by his two children Anna and André (Josée), Opa to his 3 grandchildren: Nikolas, Carina and Miguel.

Predeceased by his parents, Andreas and Anna Berends; daughter, Katherina Berends, wife Vivian Egido Vilarino and his brothers, Willie and Heinz Berends.

He is also survived by his siblings: Andreas (Marianna), Erika (Egon), Hermann (Sabine), Rina (Max), Wilma (Hans) and his first wife Raymonde Berends and many nieces and nephews.

Cremation has taken place. Due to COVID-19 restrictions, a private memorial service will take place at a later date. A special thank you to the staff of the Elizabeth Bruyère Palliative Care Unit. If friends so desire memorial donations may be made to the Elizabeth Bruyère Palliative Care Unit.
