LAWSON, Andy (André) Serge

1951 - 2024

In Loving Memory of Andy (André) Serge Lawson November 25, 1951 - September 18, 2024

It is with great sorrow that we announce the peaceful passing of Andy Lawson, aged 72, on September 18, 2024, at Queensway Carleton Hospital, after a valiant battle with cancer.

Andy was born at the Saint Mary’s Hospital in Timmins, Ontario on November 25, 1951, to Norman Lawson and Éléonore Boisvert (Lawson).

Andy grew up in and lived most of his life in Timmins, but also called Niagara Falls, St. Catharines, Gatineau and Ottawa home at various points throughout his life. A 1971 graduate of O'Gorman High School, he went on to earn a Bachelor of Arts degree in Psychology from Brock University in St. Catharines. He worked in the field for a brief time before joining his father, Norman Lawson, in his business enterprise, Norman C. Lawson Realty. Later, Andy founded his own successful real estate firm, where he spent several years at the helm.

Andy is survived by his four cherished children—Melanie, Chad, Mark and David and their families, including treasured grandchildren: Emily, Eric, Sierrah, James and Rose. He is also survived by his sisters, Rosanne and Christine and his elder brother Errol and 12 nieces and nephews. Andy was preceded in death by his father, Norman, his mother Éléonore, his sister Danielle, his brother Norman and many dear friends and relatives.

Andy was a spiritual, selfless man, of deep character, beloved by those who knew him for his kindness, humor and unwavering love for his family and friends. Though we mourn the loss of an extraordinary soul, we take comfort in celebrating the love and light Andy brought into the lives of those around him. His enthusiasm and caring nature left an indelible mark on those affected. His presence will be deeply missed but forever remembered.

A funeral service will be held in Orléans, Ontario on Saturday, October 12th, 2024, at 11:00 a.m. at, Divine Infant Church, 6658 Bilberry Dr, Orleans, ON K1C 2S9. Luncheon will be served after the service. Reverend Priest, Michael El-Nachef, will officiate the service and interment will follow at a later date.

In honour of Andy’s life, a **Celebration of Love and Life** will be held on Tuesday, October 15th, 2024, from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m., with an open mic, beginning at 7 p.m., where his children will share and anyone else can, at the The Royal Canadian Legion Branch 287 | 46 Legion Drive, South Porcupine, ON, P0N 1H0. Light refreshments will be served.

In lieu of flowers, the family kindly asks to follow in Andy’s footsteps and do a good deed for the less fortunate. Andy was often known to: help feed the homeless, drive the downtrodden to doctor’s appointments, lend a genuine listening ear to the troubled, and brighten people’s days with a quick turn of phrase! The Lawson family also recognizes Andy’s love for The Costello Community Care Centre (www.costellocentre.com) , and encourages donations in Andy’s memory.

Family and friends, we welcome you to join us in honouring the memory of Andy, a remarkable individual who touched so many hearts. Let's come together to share stories, memories, and celebrate his incredible life.
