MCINNES, Amy Lindsay Marie

1999 - 2023

It is with heavy hearts, we announce the passing of our precious daughter, Amy Lindsay Marie McInnes, on September 23, 2023, at the tender age of 23.

Amy, beloved daughter of Angela J. Whelan and Gordon McInnes, leaves behind her devoted sister, Meagan McInnes. She was the adored granddaughter of Georges H. Whelan and of the late Annabel Mary Kilby (Whelan). Amy is preceded in death by her uncles Mark, Michael, and Matthew Whelan, and is survived by her uncle James Whelan (Natalie Smith). She will be missed by her grandparents Frances and Lorne McInnes, as well as her uncle Bryant McInnes. Amy also leaves behind a host of relatives, cousins, her bestie Alex, and many cherished friends.

A celebration of Amy's life will be held at St. Mark Catholic Church, located at 160 Principale Street, Aylmer, Quebec, on Wednesday, October 11th at 11:00 a.m. A burial will follow later in the fall in Luskville, Quebec.

Amy possessed a heart that knew no bounds and a smile that could light up any room. She held a deep love for her family, arts and crafts, collections of bears, various hobbies, swimming, canoeing and video games. Above all, she cherished her love for horses, her babies and her pets despite her courageous battle with Prader-Willi Syndrome and chronic medical issues. Her canine companion Mae, her therapy dog, and her feline friends Emma and Treasure were the embodiment of her love and compassion. While they remain with family who will care for them, we find comfort in knowing that Amy now walks alongside her beloved dog Mea.

In memory of Amy's time at CHEO, and in honour of her unwavering kindness and love for infants, we invite you to consider making a donation in her name to the CHEO Foundation through this link: https://secure.cheofoundation.com/site/Donation2;jsessionid=00000000.app20048a?df_id=1520&1520.donation=form1&mfc_pref=T&NONCE_TOKEN=917C9EC05660CF07501E566D2AA987BA.

We are absolutely gutted. Amy was a life long friend to Mike and I and our kids (including our pup Syd). She was absolute sunshine. Always smiling and finding the positive in every situation. It was an honour to know her. Sending our condolences and warm hugs to you all. Xoxo
Rest in peace Ames

Dear McInnes and Whelan Families,

I was so deeply sorry to learn of Amy's passing. I had the privilege of teaching Amy. We shared many laughs, she often spoke of her beloved pets and I saw first hand talent for crafting. She painted a lovely picture of a dog as a Christmas present for me. I have met many students and through the years but Amy was one of the most memorable. I will always hold a special place for Amy in my heart.

Our hearts are truly broken. It’s hard to wrap our heads around this loss — Amy was truly an exceptional human being. She made us smile, she always made us feel at home, and most importantly, she changed our Alex’s life forever. Amy was a gift we will forever be grateful for. We know her memory will never fade, because she lives in every single person whose path she crossed and whose days she made brighter with her joyful laugh and her iridescent smile. We love you Amy.

Ma belle Angie, tu as tout donné.

À Mead : Tu as su accueillir l'arrivée de ta sœur Amy dès ton jeune âge.

Dear Angela, I am so sorry for your loss. I feel your pain, and know how hard it is to grasp the passing of your own child. She was twinkling star here on earth, and will trade her sparkles for the wings of an Angel. May God give you strength to see light and hope, may you find reasons to keep smiling each day and night for every tomorrow.

My sincere sympathy goes out to you on the loss of Amy. It is so very difficult to lose a child.
