CHOU, Allan

1948 - 2024

OBITUARY – REMEMBERING ALLAN CHOU

Allan Nie Sinn Chou was called home to our Lord on August 3rd 2024, where his final days with us was in Richmond Hill, Ontario.  He leaves behind his loving wife, Mae and two sons Michael (Sunny) and Tommy (Joëlle) and five grandchildren (Nathan, Julien, Joseph, Olivier, and Annabella).  He also leaves behind a brother, Harry (Sway-Phein), a sister, Patricia and a brother-in-law, Allan K.  He will be remembered by his numerous cousins, nephews, nieces, friends and acquaintances, whom were touched by his generosity and thoughtfulness.

Born on Dec 22nd 1948, at the young age of 16, Allan left Calcutta in 1964 and arrived in Montreal in January 1965 with his parents and siblings.  He graduated from Loyola high school and after a few odd jobs, started a career at O’Keefe brewery.  He left his managerial position to go into business with his brother and founded La Maison Mansou Restaurant, where he would be a restauranteur for over 40 years in Laval, Quebec.  Allan touched the lives of anyone he met.  Whether it was customer at Mansou, a clerk at a fast-food drive thru, a fellow Sunday parishioner or even hospital staff, Allan easily started a conversation.  He had a way of connecting with people and soon became their friend or even trusted confidant.  Even in his frail health while at the clinic, Allan was generous with his time, offering a listening ear, providing meals for fellow patients and giving gifts to the hard-working nurses and doctors.  He will be sorely missed by everyone.  Rest in peace our dear Allan.

Visitation will be at Résidence funéraire Laval located at 2000 Rue Cunard, Laval, QC H7S 2G5, on Friday, August 16th , 2024 from 2:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. on and on Saturday, August 17th , 2024 from 9:00 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.. A funeral mass will take place at Holy Name of Jesus Parish at 899 Bd Chomedey, Laval, QC H7V 2X1 on Saturday, August 17th , at 1:00 p.m, followed by a reception at Tong Por Restaurant at 12242 Blvd. Laurentien, Montreal, QC H4K 1M9 at 3:00 pm.

Holy Name of Jesus Parish will also livestream the funeral mass which will be accessible via this link https://youtube.com/live/qiTpUAO-rJo?feature=share.

The family wishes to express their deep appreciation to the hospital staff at Cité de la Sante Hospital in Laval where he received dialysis treatments for over a decade, and also a special thanks to the staff of Mackenzie Health in Richmond Hill ON and Southlake Regional Health Clinic in Newmarket ON, who cared for Allan in his final days.
