OBITUARY – REMEMBERING ALLAN CHOU
Allan Nie Sinn Chou was called home to our Lord on August 3rd 2024, where his final days with us was in Richmond Hill, Ontario. He leaves behind his loving wife, Mae and two sons Michael (Sunny) and Tommy (Joëlle) and five grandchildren (Nathan, Julien, Joseph, Olivier, and Annabella). He also leaves behind a brother, Harry (Sway-Phein), a sister, Patricia and a brother-in-law, Allan K. He will be remembered by his numerous cousins, nephews, nieces, friends and acquaintances, whom were touched by his generosity and thoughtfulness.
Born on Dec 22nd 1948, at the young age of 16, Allan left Calcutta in 1964 and arrived in Montreal in January 1965 with his parents and siblings. He graduated from Loyola high school and after a few odd jobs, started a career at O’Keefe brewery. He left his managerial position to go into business with his brother and founded La Maison Mansou Restaurant, where he would be a restauranteur for over 40 years in Laval, Quebec. Allan touched the lives of anyone he met. Whether it was customer at Mansou, a clerk at a fast-food drive thru, a fellow Sunday parishioner or even hospital staff, Allan easily started a conversation. He had a way of connecting with people and soon became their friend or even trusted confidant. Even in his frail health while at the clinic, Allan was generous with his time, offering a listening ear, providing meals for fellow patients and giving gifts to the hard-working nurses and doctors. He will be sorely missed by everyone. Rest in peace our dear Allan.
